[By the way, John Green (with his brother Hank) also does a totally awesome vlog on youtube. check them out at http://www.youtube.com/vlogbrothers]
Anyway, this novel is FANTASTIC, but it kind of jumps strangely. I mean, in part one, they're running around serving justice to a bunch of bullies, which is funny and entertaining and only slightly illegal (don't try this at home). But then part two starts, and all of the sudden one of the main characters is gone and the other main character is left to play Nancy Drew trying to find her! Thoughts on this leap?
Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to figure out the metaphor, if there is one, but, as Margo said, things were getting out of control, and quite suddenly, she had to leave town.
I think Q is so desperate to go after Margo because he's making the adventure out to be something more than it is. He's a senior in high school. He has one last shot of being known and 'doing something with his life.' He wants that rush that Margo provided, both during their escapade and from their childhood. He's basically having a mid-life crisis at age 18.
What bothered me most about the book were the tense changes. It's so minor but it's just so... odd! Thoughts?
Yeah, I noticed that too. Does J scribble not have an editor?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that, too >:(
ReplyDeleteEither editor was too caught up by the drama or John did it specifically FOR the drama. You don't know what's going to happen next, and, seemingly, Q doesn't either.
...I still don't like it.
Hmm... I still loved it. I almost suggested that we comment to John about it, but as the book is already published, criticism is no longer constructive.
ReplyDeleteBut for a question Tuesday we could ask if there was a purpose BEHIND it.
ReplyDeleteBut he doesn't do question tuesdays anymore! unless they resume in 2011...
